Hue - Day 2

Having a bad day today. We awoke to pouring rain again and by lunchtime I was completely naffed off and wrote a complete and utter rant in my blog.  Frankly I was sick to death of rain as it hasn't stopped since we flew into Vietnam, and if  I could change our plans now I would have flown straight back to Thailand and missed out the in between bit.  Grump, grump.  The weather report says its going to continue for the next ten days until we reached Saigon.  I even looked at the weather in Da Nang and Hoi Ann, but its no better there, so not worth moving on.

Up and on, I will get it over it and I did eventually. And I deleted the rant... So what it's raining.

We went for breakfast in the lovely dining room downstairs at The Morin.   There was so much to choose from, I didn't know where to start.  So began with fruit and yoghurt (pretty healthy) then went Dutch with toast and a little cheese. I then sat on my hands so I didn't go back for more.

Chores time, a wander around the back of the hotel to find a laundry and dirty clothes in for a wash.. We've found a nice cafe for dinner tonight (actually the place we dropped off the laundry).  and then back to the hotel to dry off.  Another wander out later, a cup of hot chocolate and then back to dry off.

We attempted to cross the bridge to the citadel, but it was horrible we turned around. Perhaps tomorrow.

Then at 4pm it stopped raining and we finally got for a long walk around, so much happier when we are doing something. We found a nice little cafe bar called B41, sat and had a beer and watched the world go by.

The difference between here and Hanoi is that the roads are much wider, so instead of scooters weaving around you, you have ten across and ten deep heading straight for you. It's quite disconcerting.  And on them you have everything from house contents to a tree. Give them their due, they are brave. We did see a couple of crunches yesterday, but they just pick up the bits that fall off and carry on.

This one scared me a bit!

In the evening went to the Mandarin cafe and had dinner. A little pancake, deep fried and filled with salad, mushroom and peanut sauce, Rod's was with pork, and I had beef noodle soup to follow and Rod chicken with cashew nuts. It was a lovely meal and would go back any time. What a feast.

The restaurant is owned by Mr Chu a photographer. The whole place covered in his fabulous photos.  I can see us buying one before we leave.

Some images of our hotel. It's so great.

Cross you're fingers for tomorrow.
