But first I have booked us into a beach resort for three days of rest and relaxation, and hopefully some sun.
Hoi An is about three hours drive south. I looked at the choices for travelling down. Bus, taxi or car tour transfer. We choice the later which is basically a scenic tour of the coast, stopping at some beaches and Marble Mountain village.
Our driver met us at 10 am and we headed south. If you remember on the way to Hue we went through tunnel, this time we went up the mountain and down the other side instead. By the way the tunnel was six kms long, impressive. But the windey drive up the mountain had fabulous views. It's called the Hai Van Pass.
That is until we came around a sharp bend to find a bullock sprawled across the road asleep. Well what can you do, ask it politely to move. It didnt and we carefully manoeuvred around it and carried on.
Oh! And how to move pigs around, Vietnam Style.
We stopped a couple of times to have a look at the view and then carried on to Lang Co Beach. In summer it must be spectacular.
We passed numerous US battle emplacements, but we are not really that interested, and they looked pretty grim.
Paddy rice fields.
Unfortunately the rain started at the top of the hill and we missed out the Marble Village, instead stopped a Marble showroom. I wanted to bring him home with me but Rod wouldnt let me 😔
Back through Da Nang and out the other side, through rice fields and towns to Hoi An Beach.
What an amazing week you've had. I've just caught up with the last 3-4 days. Loved the monkeys and ladies dresses at Tet and the warrior statues
ReplyDelete, the pigs also looked content. Have a lovely few days at the beach and hope the sun shines. Xx
