Saigon Day 4

Didn't really know what to do today.  Didn't want to do the chu cu tunnels or take a taxi out to the temples. So we decided to just have a walk around and see the different roads, shops and markets, with good breaks in between. All around where we are staying are Chanel, Hermes and such like. But you never see anyone in them ever. But I suppose you only have to make one sale a day to get your figures.

If you were to put Hanoi and Saigon together you would think that Saigon was the capital city, not Hanoi. It has that big city feel with new buildings and skyscrapers being built everywhere. It has the buzz of the major city. Four days were enough for us as it is a tiring place, not only the weather but the constant pace all the time. I should think the locals are pretty stressed.

The odd Bentley or two!

Today we went to the modern art museum housed in a couple of old French colonial villas.

Then we went to the history museum, which was small enough not to get too phased. It had some lovely carvings and artifacts, but the history was a bit one sided! And the breeze blew though the corridors which was wonderful.

In the evening we put on our best togs and went for a gin and tonic, well two actually on the Sky Dec of the Caravelle Hotel.  It was the first five star hotel built in Saigon when things opened up. Very nice it was too, and we watched the sun go down over the city.

Dinner was at Nha Hang Ngon the court yard restaurant. We managed to order perfectly tonight and had a fabulous dinner before our last walk down Walking Street.

Walking Street lit up again.
